There are a number of competitions every year to members to show their work and receive feedback from an experienced guest judge. Recognition comes in the form of various trophies and awards.
There are normally five rounds of the print competition each year split into a General Open Category, and Advanced Open Category and a Themed Category. These are supplemented by two additional competitions. Normally the print rounds are open for people to enter their own work even though it may have been printed commercially. The Printer of the Year Competition, however, must have been “home processed”. Finally, there is the Landscape Trophy Competition for entries which are less than two years old on the night.
Digital Image Competitions
There are four rounds each year for Digital Projected Images (DPI) in both “open” and “themed”categories. At the end of the year, there is a Digital Image of the Year competition with entries drawn from the best of the DPI rounds. There is also a Natural History Competition with a narrow set of rules.
The themes for both the print an digital competitions are announced during the previous year to allow members to prepare for the coming season. Click here for or 2018/19 dates and themes.
You should also make yourself familiar with the following before as you prepare to enter competitions (all of these open as PDFs):
