On Monday 15 April we set our visiting judge, Daphne Hanson, quite a task in choosing the winner of the 2019 Digital Image of the Year. Daphne had 97 images to consider, covering just about every genre of photography.
As ever Daphne did a sterling job. She delivered concise comments highlighting what she considered to be the most favourable points of each image. Daphne also indicated where, using her years of experience, images may be enhanced by a change of viewpoint or a little post-processing. At the end of the evening Daphne had set aside 14 images for further consideration. She was particularly drawn to two of them.

They were Hatim Bharmal’s image entitled ‘After Mud Bath’
and Malcolm Rapier’s ‘Rainy Night in the City’.
At the conclusion of the evening Daphne indicated that her personal preference was for the very splendid image “Rainy Night”. We are, therefore, delighted to announce Malcolm as the winner of or Digital Image of the Year for 2018/19. Congratulations to Malcolm and everyone who took part.
