International Battle – Round One

Our bi-annual interclub ‘battle’ with the Gibraltar Photographic Society (GPS), is an event that we very much look forward to. It is an occasion to sometimes see very different images taken by those who ‘live on the Rock’. Over the years we have seen, and submitted, some memorable images and have enjoyed closely fought competitions. This year looks to be no exception. We were hosting the first leg this time around. The second leg, to be held in Gibraltar, takes place on 18 March.

We were delighted to be joined on the night by Sue Sibley ARPS DPAGB BPE4 EFIAP/s who acted as our judge. Sue objectively analysed each image, drawing attention to what made some images stand out more than others. On occasion she indicated how images could be enhanced by small adjustments in composition or post processing. Her advice was always helpful and constructive.

At the conclusion of the evening Edmonton were the clear winners of round one, with a score of 344 points to Gibraltar’s 322 points. We look forward to hearing the outcome of the second round.

Two Edmonton members received the maximum mark of 20 for their images. One of which, ‘Honeybee’ by Marilyn Steward, is shown below.
