Portraiture through the ages

We were treated to a fascinating insight into the world of Portrait Photography on Monday by Tom Peck. We learned about the earliest portraits and the technical limitations, the evolution of the art form and how it has developed across the decades and the meanings that can be ascribed to the different genres of portraiture. How old ideas are recycled and refreshed, and how the most important aspect is the relationship between the photographer and the sitter, and how each controls the outcome.
A great evening.
