Edmonton Camera Club was very please to welcome back Vanda Ralevska last Monday evening. We always look forward to seeing Vanda and this time she came with her talk on “Waiting for That Moment”. This is a write up from Jenny Burden our Social Secretary:

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.
Romantic, wonderful, dreamy just a few words to describe Vanda Ralevska’s photos. This poem above completely explains her love of our country and her outlook on a lot of her photography and these lyrics by Paul Simon appear on her fabulous website ‘mylenscapes.co.uk’, take a look at it sometime and you can get lost for hours in a different perspective of the everyday and the not so everyday images that surround us.
Not all photographer’s work is my cup of tea but last night’s lecture hit the spot for me, Vanda took us to Madeira, Venice and the UK to name a few countries where she manages to captured all the essence of those parts of the world, the people the buildings and most importantly the weather. She quite often will be out and about at 4am to see…………………fog, yes any hint of fog, rain or snow and Vanda is in the great outdoors capturing all the loveliness of each and every change that the weather, inclement or otherwise has to show, and brings them to us through her lens.
She says “For me photography is about the beauty that surrounds us, that we quite often don’t realise is there. The beauty that we can see if we care to look; and sometimes the camera helps us along the way”.
Thank you Vanda.
Can’t wait for your next visit to our club.
